Oscar-winning actress Olympia Dukakis, newcomer Tony Maudsley and Simon Shepherd star in A LIFE FOR A LIFE, a two-hour film which tells the story of one of the most tragic miscarriages of justice in British legal history. Malcolm Tierney plays Detective Inspector Holland and Tom Chadbon is David Waddington QC. The film is produced by Malcolm Craddock, directed by Stephen Whittaker (Hearts and Minds, Portrait of a Marriage and What if it's Raining), written by Peter Berry and the executive producer is Muir Sutherland. It is a Celtic /Picture Palace production, a direct commission by ITV. A LIFE FOR A LIFE won Best Writer and Best Network Newcomer in the Royal Television Society Awards 1999. The film was also nominated for Best Single Drama, BAFTA Awards 1999 and Best Single Drama in the prestigious European television Prix Italia Award.
